Batten down the hatches!

The last few days the news here has been full of Tropical Storm Edouard, with lots of advice about how to prepare for its imminent arrival... I think perhaps people in this part of the world are still a bit hurricane-happy, after Katrina a few years ago (and there's still some memory of the Galveston Hurricane of 1900, which caused pretty massive damage, and killed about 1800 people).

Anyway, here's our hurricane weather:

Lots of rain, no wind at all... it was a little scarier last night, when a storm passed right over head - loads of lightning and thunder, getting closer and closer together as the storm neared, but surprisingly little rain... today's been quite pleasant, really, and this way we won't have to put the sprinklers out for a day or two!

Oh my goodness! And have you been driving in this weather? And how is Pippin taking the noise of that heavy rain? At least, as you say, it's helping your lawn and garden to achieve prime condition ....

I haven't had to do any driving, no... Literacy Advance, where I was due to start tutoring yesterday, closed for the day, just to be safe, so the class was cancelled... I'll go down on Thursday instead. Dave has done his normal driving to and from work but has had no problems. And Pippin put his head on one side, a little inquisitively, at a couple of the worst thunder booms, but has otherwise been quite happy with his rings and bells as usual!

yeldarb - I do believe you are correct :)
Dave was at his parents' when the storm rolled over on Monday night, so when the lights started flickering and I thought we might lose power, I took the precaution of opening the garage door, so he could get back in without getting soaked, and I lit some candles, but after that I just laughed at the storm; it's fun when you're all cosy :)
